Jyotirmoy De works majorly with two mediums, painting and stitching. He is inspired by the beauty of nature, the infinite species and the characteristics each one has. The mightiness of God's creation takes precedence in his work. He first photographs flowers, insects, bees, and other creatures using his camera, digitally prints them and then juxtaposes different images with each other. He often chooses elements which are unusual, unnoticed, alongside popular subjects. Selectively he plays with the proportion of creatures in his paintings, magnifying some while reducing others to minuscule forms. Here at the residency he has been working on a nature inspired triptych. Come find out about his artwork on 24 May 2017.
